WHY CREATIVITY IS SO IMPORTANT
"If at first an idea is not
absurd then there is no hope for it."
Albert Einstein
If absurd ideas were not generated
and seriously considered, we wouldn't have life saving
vaccines - "What?! You want inject me with Smallpox to prevent
me from getting Smallpox? That's absurd!"
The fact that creativity is the anagram of reactivity
explains everything. The concept of creativity is the core
organizing principle of our work because it represents the
ultimate act of optimism. Rather than merely reacting to
a challenge, stressor, or a sudden shift in the market environment,
the creative organization adapts quickly and innovatively
empowered by its main asset - ideas.
Nothing is more fragile
or more powerful than an idea. Ideas fuel the life of an
organization. Successful, high-performance organizations
do things faster, cheaper, and better because of their ability
to protect, nurture and fully develop (initially) fragile
ideas. Ideas, talent and possibilities become lost when
individuals in an organization struggle with stagnation,
interpersonal conflict, and feelings of isolation. Organizations
must create or die.
Improv's tools for interactive discovery construct a
fertile environment where people are encouraged to take
the risk to be creative. The form endows them with practical
tools that will rejuvenate their curiosity and encourage
them to collaborate with their colleagues in new ways. Participation
in our training programs will enable them the gain the courage
to engage in the process that is necessary to create the
ability to successfully straddle the opposing worlds of
the familiar and unknown.
